Decorated eggs are an ancient custom that spans throughout Eastern Europe. In Lithuania the eggs (Marguciai) were either dyed and the design scratched with a sharp tool or wax was applied using the batik method. Natural dyes were used from plant base materials such as dried birch leaves and onion skins. Today, commercial dyes are used which gives the egg a brighter and richer hue.
I will be selling handcrafted etched eggs (goose, duck, turkey, chicken,) that have been dyed then scratched with a blade according to the traditions of my Lithuanian/American family. I began etching eggs fifteen years ago and it has become a relaxation tool as well as a passion. I have exhibited, demonstrated and spoke at several museums and ethnic festivals. In 2012 I appeared on the “Martha Stewart Show” to show the ‘Queen of Crafting’ how to scratch an egg.

Young’s Funny Farm Animal Therapy Program
Young’s Funny Farm, a non-profit based out of Berwick, that rescues and trains very special animals for therapy work throughout Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, was cofounded by Neil and Vonnie Young.
Young’s Funny Farm is the only group or individual’s in the country, to ever use once formerly wild burros (donkeys) for therapy work. All adopted from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse & Burro Adoption Program. They ran wild in the desert in California.
We will have some of our therapy animals for you to meet and interact with. We will gladly answer questions about therapy work, care of our animals and adoption from the BLM.
We also use ducks, which are especially good working with people with autism and dementia
Our therapy animals are part of the Pet Partners® program and do visits to special needs centers, senior centers, nursing homes, schools and hospitals, as well as doing public events.
According to Pet Partners, there are only therapy donkey teams in the United States and we have four of them. They are truly special and do bedside visits.
Visits can be arranged by going to www.youngsfunnyfarm.org
