The Exchange is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the arts to all communities throughout our region. From day camps and childcare centers to senior centers and nursing homes, as well as family-friendly festivals including last year’s Maker Faire at The Children’s Museum. Their facilitators bring projects in many media, including painting and drawing, cut-out paper, and sculpture, often using recycled materials. They tailor the projects to any age group and any size group. Examples of these hands-on art projects will be available for Faire-goers to enjoy.

Decorated eggs are an ancient custom that spans throughout Eastern Europe. In Lithuania the eggs (Marguciai) were either dyed and the design scratched with a sharp tool or wax was applied using the batik method. Natural dyes were used from plant base materials such as dried birch leaves and onion skins. Today, commercial dyes are used which gives the egg a brighter and richer hue.
I will be selling handcrafted etched eggs (goose, duck, turkey, chicken,) that have been dyed then scratched with a blade according to the traditions of my Lithuanian/American family. I began etching eggs fifteen years ago and it has become a relaxation tool as well as a passion. I have exhibited, demonstrated and spoke at several museums and ethnic festivals. In 2012 I appeared on the “Martha Stewart Show” to show the ‘Queen of Crafting’ how to scratch an egg.
