In the weeks leading up to the 2018 Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire, we will be profiling the Makers that are appearing at the Faire!
Appearing at the Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire for the First time: Ham Radio Operators!
Ham Radio Operators were some of the original “makers”. In fact, in the beginning that was the only way for a ham to get a station going…to build it from scratch! Many of the communication things we take for granted today were actually started by amateur radio operators. See what sort of things hams are building now, including a complete 2-way short wave station capable of talking many hundreds or thousands of miles using modern components and for very little cost. Come check out the cool devices we will have at the Faire!
This booth will be brought to you by the Columbia-Montour Amateur Radio Club (CMARC) which has been serving the region for over 30 years, enjoying being with others interested in the hobby and providing emergency communications when needed.
This year’s Bloomsburg Mini Maker Faire will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10am-4pm on the grounds of the Children’s Museum right in the heart of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
Admission to this all-day event is FREE. There will be a large variety of Making activities, workshops, presentations, performances, crafters and the Museum’s 50+ exhibits.
